I have a story from the same world as the last two that started with Cordell's Rebellion. The main character was a side character in Hour of Consequence. The story arc is complete. Unfortunately, there is no character arc. Oops!
Cordell's Rebellion
The coming summer brings writing time. Story ideas flood my thoughts. Starting as the occasional drip, it's grown into a full rush of plans and plots. I wonder where they will go and if I can capture them all. It looks promising, so far.
Though my work schedule has been tight, aggravated by winter weather delays, I've found a little time to work on the follow-up to Cordell's Rebellion. There are only a couple of scenes to complete and the first draft will be done. The excitement is building.
One of the problems of print-on-demand publishing is that you don't get all the support that comes with a publisher-driven launch. Even though my novel is through the Barnes and Noble Press, I'm still responsible for the initial promotion. That made it more exciting when I got my first customer review on the Barnes and Noble website.
I am starting to see a pattern. Fall of 2017 was almost as bad. In my day job, I teach software development and databases. This fall, one of my courses, the technology changed while I was teaching it. All of my preparations, my examples and so forth were invalid. This really cut into my writing time.
When last we visited our newly-printed novel, all the pagination was effectively correct except for being one page off. That meant the title page showed up on the left side instead of the right and all the page numbers appeared almost in the gutter. With some simple instructions from the publisher, I made changes. Now to see what effect the changes had.
My novel, Cordell's Rebellion, has been available for twenty days as an eBook, a little less than that for the paperback. In that time, I've sold exactly one copy and given out thirteen. Those aren't stellar numbers, but I didn't expect much. I will see what feedback I get from the "promotional" copies I've given and, if there isn't anything embarrassing in them, I will start promoting.
This summer has been a killer. Most of my plans died abruptly. I was still able to get some things done. Most important of all, my novel, Cordell's Rebellion, is now published. It is available in paperback or ebook. You can ask for it at your local Barnes and Noble, or get it online.
